The wire acts like an antenna, picking up signals from the transmitter and sending them to your dog’s receiver/collar. When your dog approaches a boundary, it receives a warning signal (beep). If it keeps going, and gets too close to the boundary, your dog receives a correction (static shock). Soon your dog will know the difference between “safe areas” and “out of bounds.”
